ADOLESCENT PROGRAM
(GRADE 7 TO 9)
At Skyridge Montessori, the Adolescent Program is designed for one of the most important stages of development. Adolescence is not a waiting period before high school, it is a critical time to build judgment, confidence, and real-world capability.
Guided by Alina and Rebecca, students experience a program that balances academic rigor, personal growth, and authentic responsibility, preparing them not just for high school, but for life.
Adolescent Program Highlights
-
LEARNING AND GROWING WITH PURPOSE
Students learn best when their work is meaningful and connected to real life. Our classrooms function as micro-societies where adolescents:
- Engage in purposeful, project-based learning and take responsibility for their work
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through real-world challenges
- Strengthen collaboration, communication, and leadership abilities
- Cultivate creativity, initiative, and adaptability through open-ended projects
- Build practical skills such as organization, goal-setting, and financial literacy, including participation in a student-run micro-economyThrough these experiences, students grow academically, socially, and personally. This approach is grounded in Maria Montessori’s vision for adolescents (Erdkinder) and thoughtfully adapted to meet today’s academic, social, and real-world challenges.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE
Daily: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
Weekly: Monday to Friday
Annual Schedule:
September to June (generally follows the public school calendar)
Students at Skyridge Montessori engage in lessons carefully aligned with the BC curriculum, giving them a strong academic foundation. They have opportunities to work both independently and collaboratively, allowing them to explore their interests while developing teamwork and communication skills. Interdisciplinary projects connect multiple subjects, showing how learning applies in real-world contexts. Students demonstrate their understanding through presentations, writing, and assessments, while reflecting on their progress and setting goals. Throughout the program, they are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, express their ideas, and make choices that guide their growth.
Student progress is closely monitored through projects, assessments, ongoing feedback, and regular conferences. Reflective practices and goal-setting help students understand their growth and take responsibility for their learning. This approach ensures that each student develops confidence, competence, and independence as they move through the program.
